1 year of blogging
Today is the first anniversary of this blog. It started on 28 September 2010, with the simple post “Hi world!“, and it has gone so far since then. Now there have been:
- Over
10,00011,000 views - Nearly 300 posts
- Over 1,000 comments
Wow. That’s all I can say. And, of course, thanks. Thanks to Hanna and One Change At A Time for writing posts now and again.
Thanks to my mum, petradragon for doing some great posts over on her blog, and commenting on this blog. Thanks to everyone who’s looked at this site, and especially everyone who has commented.
Well, it’s been a great first year. Hopefully this next year will be even better.
Was soll ich schreiben? Alles, was?

My dog Gallifrey (Gally for short)
My dog “Gallifrey” (he is known as “Gally”) was born on the 23rd February 2010. He is a whippet. The point of this post is to tell you a little about him.
Like I said earlier, he is a whippet (a great breed of dog that is like the greyhound), and he can run very fast. Seriously. It is very hard to catch him if he runs away from you. When he isn’t running, he is usually asleep somewhere in the house. On a beanbag, in a bed, on the sofa… he sleeps when he likes and where he likes. He’s in charge of this house. On a serious note though, he isn’t. If a dog does take charge of your house and think of himself/herself as the alpha, it isn’t good. If you feed them when they like, you walk them when they like etc. they can put themselves in charge. And that isn’t a good thing. Let me explain why…
If a dog sees themselves as in charge, they won’t usually obey your commands. That means if they were chasing sheep, they wouldn’t come to you when you called and could get shot by the farmer (yes, that is legal). Not good, is it? And when they bark, they may not stop when you tell them to. Basically, get in charge of your dog. Make sure you are alpha, and they are at the bottom of the commandment list.
Anyway, back to Gally. So he is cute, can run fast, loves meeting people, and likes to sleep. You can see a picture of him below:
July 2011 advance notice
Earlier this year, I put this blog on the Post A Day 2011 challenge. And it has been great so far. Since I signed up, there has been a new post everyday, even when I have been away with no internet access. But this challenge has been a huge time-taker, and it is impacting on my work.
Without this challenge, this blog would be very different. It would still have its old name, huge gaps between new content and it would have very few readers. I would probably not have discovered amazing blogs such as The Change Revolution and Hanna Wilbur’s. The challenge has been great.
All of time and space will switch over to the Post A Week 2011 challenge in late July 2011. Why July, you may think. Right now, there are 81 posts scheduled for tomorrow, the day after that and so on. They lead up until Friday 15th July 2011. The Daily Post challenge will stop on All of time and space on that date.
I would like to thank all the readers and co-authors of this blog. You have been the best I could possibly hope for. As I have said, new content will be posted daily on this blog up to and including Friday 15th July 2011, and after that I will post new content approximately every week.
By the way, if you are wondering why I posted this now, it’s because I will probably change my mind if I don’t.
Heart of Courage
I have been looking for this tune for a very long time. It has been on many movie trailers recently, and I wouldn’t have been able to get a name for it without my Dad‘s iPhone. I have finally found it, and you can hear it below:
What do you think? By the way, there is a new ‘tagline’ for this blog (you can read it at the top right of the page). What do you think of that?
Have a great day!
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken
Describe the biggest risk you’ve ever taken (and what happened) or describe the biggest risk you considered taking, but didn’t.
I’m not going to go into much detail about the risk I considered taking. Actually, by the time I had to make the choice, the risk was gone.
I was choosing some things out of many. And the risk was this: should I not take a certain thing? If I didn’t, there was a high chance I would have a lot of trouble in the future. If I did take it, I would be fine, but it would mean that I would miss out on something else.
As I have said, sorry for being vague.
The world is full of risks. What is the biggest risk you have taken, or thought about taking?

You're risking rolling the wrong number...
Legend of The Up-side Down Boat Mountain (Legenda Gunung Tangkuban Parahu)
Behind my house there is a beautiful mountain called Gunung Tangkuban Parahu. It literally means Mountain (gunung) Upside down position (tangkuban) Boat (parahu); Upside-down Boat Mountain! If you think the name of the mountain is interesting, the story or legend behind it is much more interesting.
Because the story is passed down from generation to generation through story telling, so there might be a bit alteration in detail, but nevertheless, you get the main point of the story (I hope).
Warning: Logic is not needed to understand this legend!
One day a beautiful princess–Dayang Sumbi–was doing menyulam (I don’t know what this is in English), when one of her kit fell out of the window. Dayang Sumbi said whoever helps her get her kit will become her sister if it was a girl, and become a husband if it was a boy. Turns out that a dog named Tumang was the one who helped get her kit!
So, Dayang Sumbi married Tumang–who was actually a half god–and had a son named Sangkuriang. Sangkuriang was never told that Tumang was his father.
One day Sangkuriang and Tumang went out hunting for deer, but didn’t get any deer by the end of the day. Sangkuriang wanted to give a deer’s heart to his mother but with this failure he decided to kill Tumang and give Tumang’s heart to Dayang Sumbi.
Dayang Sumbi didn’t know this so she finished the heart that Sangkuriang gave her. When it was finished then Sangkuriang told her that it was Tumang’s heart. Dayang Sumbi was very angry and hit Sangkuriang’s head with a Coet (a tool to grind spices. It’s made out of rock).
Sangkuriang ran away from home.
For years he lived alone and in the way learned magical powers from different teachers. Until he came of age, he met a beautiful lady and fell in love with her. The girl also fell in love with Sangkuriang (who grew up to be a handsome and powerful young man).
One day, the lady saw the scar on Sangkuriang’s head and she remembered her son. Turns out that she was Dayang Sumbi (what a coincidence)! She tried to tell Sangkuriang this but Sangkuriang didn’t want to believe that she was his mother.
Dayang Sumbi thought of a plan so that she won’t have to marry Sangkuriang. She told Sangkuriang to make a boat in one day. The boat had to be finished by dawn. If he can’t do this, she won’t marry him.
Sangkuriang with the help of the spirits or jinn (makhluk halus) started to make the boat. When it was almost dawn, Dayang Sumbi realized that the impossible has almost been completed. In her worry, she kicked a rooster and it cock a doodle doo-ed. Another version of the story was that Dayang Sumbi had awesome powers of her own and she made dawn come faster by raising up her selendang (a soft scarf or sari).
All the spirits thought it was dawn and all ran away, leaving Sangkuriang who also thought he had failed. In his anger he kicked the boat until it fell up side down and it turned into a mountain!
Tadaa… The End.
Moral of the Story:
- You can marry a dog if it’s half god
- You can’t marry your own mother even if she has defied the laws of science by marrying a dog–and is the hottest ‘chick’ in the kingdom
Kidding. You make your own moral of the story
.
Other version’s of the story:
Etc.
Do you have an interesting legend where you live? (I know I do–a lot!) Tell me ^_^!

The secret’s out
Write about the biggest secret you failed to keep. I’m not going to tell you the secret, despite this post’s title. I mean, it’s not much of a secret if you post it for everyone to see. A lot of people already know the secret… but I’m still not going to tell you. Sorry.
I failed to keep it because I told someone a little while ago. You may think it is, of course, not a secret if you tell someone, but they had been nagging me and nagging me and I thought I could trust them. 30 mins after I told them… I find that they have written it on a piece of paper and are handing it round. I ask why, they say they were just about to rip it up.
Ok, calm doctorwhofan98 (yes, I know that isn’t my actual name and I’m not actually thinking that, but just pretend it is my real name).
That was a mistake, telling that person. A few short months later, it seems everyone knows.
One of the suggestions is “do you know anyone that could have kept it”? Yes.
Have you learned more about yourself such that you are strong enough now to keep a similiar secret? Yes, definitely. The time will come that I may need to keep another secret… but this time everything changes. This time, what is a secret will stay a secret. This time, I can deal with the situation all by myself…
What a post. If you are interested in knowing what the secret is then the answer is still no. But I will tell you this:
The worst part about this secret being ‘out’ is that I have been called many things that are not true. Bad things.
Sometimes, a secret is best being a secret. Other people, if they know, can make your life a misery.
Now I’m in a miserable mood. To lighten the mood, here is a slightly funny yet true quite, ‘borrowed’ from The Change Revolution:
“Dolphin-safe tuna, that’s great if you’re a dolphin. what if you’re a tuna!?”” – Unknown
Have a great day!

A lovely picture of my dog.
My greatest hero of all time
Who is my greatest hero of all time? Ooh, that is hard to decide. Probably the Doctor (from Doctor Who). The Doctor always wins against the Daleks and more, can regenerate when other people would die, can travel in time and space and so much more. It’s amazing what he can do.
What about my greatest villain of all time? The Daleks. No contest.
If there was a TV version of my life, who would play my evil (or not so evil) brother? My brother, probably. He’s one of the best actors I know.
What is your greatest hero/villain? Who would play your siblings in a TV version of your life?

The Eleventh Doctor

The Daleks
