Pilot any vehicle

If you could pilot any vehicle, what would it be? (F-35, Death Star, The Enterprise, an aircraft carrier, anything goes). Why? Where would you go? What would you do?

As a Doctor Who fan, I would probably go for the TARDIS, because it can travel… well, look at the quote below:

All of time and space, everywhere and anywhere, every star the ever was… Where do you want to start.

And another excellent quote explaining where the TARDIS can go (both of these quotes are by the Doctor, by the way):

All of time and space, everything that ever happened or ever will, where do you want to start?

The TARDIS can go anywhere, basically. That’s why I’d like to use one.

I would go (if I only had one trip) to the future. 31st December 2999. The end of this millenium. I would visit the UK, maybe my house. Well, it wouldn’t look like my house, because it would be almost 1000 years in the future.

I would have a look around, and see what the world would be like so far into the future. I would probably stay up for the new year celebrations. It would be great!

What vehicle would you like to pilot?

Something to do with bacon

Write about something to do with bacon. Do you like it? Hate it? Wish there more of it, or less? Do you like the way it looks, or do you wish you never saw it again? What do you think of bacon flavored chocolate, or the significance of the phrase “brining home the bacon?”

I am a vegetarian, so I don’t eat bacon from animals. Quorn bacon, however, I can eat. I think the Daily Post is talking about the meat…

Do I like it? No, because innocent animals are mercilessly slaughtered for it. Poor them!

Hate it? The flavour is okay, the fact that animals have died and that it is a piece of a corpse does make me hate it. I mean, would you want to eat a bit of a human corpse? No. So why eat animal corpses?

Wish there was more of it, or less? Less, definitely. More animals would live if no bacon was eaten/produced.

Like the way it looks, or do you wish you never saw it again? A bit of a corpse. I don’t like the way it looks, and I’d be happy never to see it again.

Bacon flavoured chocolate? I’ll give it a miss, thanks.

Significance of the phrase “bringing home the bacon?” I don’t know what that means, and a Bing search didn’t help, so I’ll leave that one.

What do you think of bacon, All of time and space readers? I know that at least one of you is vegetarian (K), and another doesn’t eat pork (H). What about the rest of you?

when not to laugh at a man (via the daysman)

when not to laugh at a man There are certain moments when a woman shouldn’t laugh at a man. Last night was one of those moments. I have a problem with a drain field, and when a vent stack in the basement started overflowing, I figured it was too late to call a plumber. And too expensive. My wife is out of town, but I put on some old clothes anyway. She has a thing about me working in my “work” clothes, since they usually consist of slacks, a dress shirt and a blazer. And t … Read More

When was the last time you were scared?

When was the last time you were scared? What happened? What did you learn? Are you still afraid of that situation? Let me think for a little while…

Ok, I’ve finished thinking. The last time I was scared was probably a few days ago (actually, by the time you read this it will by many weeks ago) when I was climbing down some earth, and I was scared that I would slip and fall to my death… Or, more likely, to a small fall and maybe a bruise.

I was actually fine, and even if I did hurt myself my family were there to save me.

I learnt that my family can help, and that sometimes there really is nothing to be afraid of. Humans can be afraid of a lot of things that are really harmless/not as bad as we think. Instincts make us afraid of things that are harmless, but some of their species are not. Here in the UK, no/very few spiders can hurt people, though a lot of people are still afraid. You can read my blog post on people being afraid by clicking here.

Any profession, money doesn’t matter

What would your profession be if you didn’t need money? Kind of hard, kind of easy…

I would probably choose to be either an author, actor or pro blogger. All sound great.

Some people may say “none”, because the point of a job is to get money. That is true, but most people do a job because they enjoy it as well.

Authors don’t get money if they don’t keep on writing books, do they? And they won’t be the richest people on earth because of that factor. With some jobs, you get paid regularly. With authors, some months you may not have much money. That is why I would be an author if money doesn’t matter, and I probably wouldn’t in real life.

What profession would you choose?

Out of control trains and puppies

An out of control train is about to run over a pile of happy puppies. You are standing at the control switch and can pull the level to direct the train onto a different track, saving their lives. But that other track has a smaller pile of equally happy puppies on it.

What do you do and why?

Is there an option to hit the brakes? If there was, I’d do that.

Since the train is out of control, I’ll presume not. If there was anyone nearby, I would shout for them to carry the smaller pile of puppies away, then go on to the other track. If there wasn’t anyone nearby, I’d phone someone and hope they get to the puppies in time. Once the train had stopped/crashed, I’d investigate why there were puppies on train tracks.

If no-one was nearby, and I couldn’t call anyone, I would have to go for the smaller pile. I would hate that, though. It would be terrible.

What would you do in that situation?

July 2011 advance notice

Earlier this year, I put this blog on the Post A Day 2011 challenge. And it has been great so far. Since I signed up, there has been a new post everyday, even when I have been away with no internet access. But this challenge has been a huge time-taker, and it is impacting on my work.

Without this challenge, this blog would be very different. It would still have its old name, huge gaps between new content and it would have very few readers. I would probably not have discovered amazing blogs such as The Change Revolution and Hanna Wilbur’s. The challenge has been great.

All of time and space will switch over to the Post A Week 2011 challenge in late July 2011. Why July, you may think. Right now, there are 81 posts scheduled for tomorrow, the day after that and so on. They lead up until Friday 15th July 2011. The Daily Post challenge will stop on All of time and space on that date.

I would like to thank all the readers and co-authors of this blog. You have been the best I could possibly hope for. As I have said, new content will be posted daily on this blog up to and including Friday 15th July 2011, and after that I will post new content approximately every week.

By the way, if you are wondering why I posted this now, it’s because I will probably change my mind if I don’t. :-)

Redesign that annoying thing

Pick something that annoys you and redesign how it works. Got an idea…

It’s annoying when you have to reach for your keys to go into your house. My ideal house key would be as follows:

  • There is a chip embedded in you, or in your mobile phone.
  • When you walk up to your door, it unlocks automatically and opens to let you in.
  • When you walk away from the door, it closes and locks itself automatically.
  • In the event of you forgetting your phone, it could scan your hand to let you in, and it would automatically remove the phone’s privileges of unlocking the door so the thief couldn’t get it.
  • Guest passes were available for guests staying at your home.

Secure, easy and fun! Who could think of a better way to get rid of keys?

What would you redesign?
